Geological Software

Palynoplot (2000-2002) for the Geological Survey of Canada
Palynoplot plots statistical distributions of palynological data. Written in Perl and using Ptk for the GUI, it can run on any system which Perl, Ptk and Palynoplot will run (including most flavours of MS Windows, Linux, Mac ) although the database software it relies on runs only on Windows.

Geomodel (1995-1999,2005-2007) for the Geological Survey of Canada
Geomodel is a suite of programs that create models of 3D stratified geological models from bore-hole intersections. Jessop Scientific Software ported software from MPEIX platform to UNIX/Linux and Windows 95/98/NT, designed a new user interface, wrote the internal and user documentation, improved the performance and efficiency of the algorithm. This software is used by the (Canadian) National Coal Inventory. The programs are written in Fortran 77, C++ and Perl, documentation in HTML.

Later developments included converting a number of programs to C++, and a number of libraries have been written that have been used in this project and for Geosurface and Geomanager.

This software will may eventually be available for purchase from the Gelogical Survey of Canada.

Geosurface (2001-2003) for the Geological Survey of Canada
Jessop Scientific Software replaced commercial surface generating software with a multi-surface generator designed for this scientific model, using combining a number of methods that the user can select including Delauney mesh refinement, relaxation and FFT methods.

Geomanager (2003-2006) for the Geological Survey of Canada
Jessop Scientific Software created a front end for Geomodel including context Dependant on-line help, model overview display, a single model description file. The idea was to create an interface for Geomodel that can be used by geologists that are not familiar with the underlying model generating programs.

This software will may eventually be available for purchase from the Gelogical Survey of Canada.

Geoview (1997-1999) for the Geological Survey of Canada
Visualization software for the display of 3D stratified geological models. The code was written in co-operation with graduate students in the Geomatics Dept. of Calgary University. Jessop Scientific Software was responsible for the implementation using Motif/Xlib and OpenGL including overall software design, the graphical user interface, most of the code for the newly added features, re-design of the model data structures and drawing code, and all the documentation. The code was written in C, using Motif and OpenGL, and the external documentation written in HTML and using cxref. This software was used by the (Canadian) National Coal Inventory.

This software will may eventually be available for purchase from the Gelogical Survey of Canada.

Heat flow model of the Western sedimentary basin (1996) for Northern Geothermal
A set of programs was written to use bottom-hole temperatures to construct a 2D temperature profile. The temperatures were correcting for heating from the drilling. Using a model containing the basement heat flow, surface temperature, water pressure, rock water permeability and heat conductivity, the program attempts to calculates the discrepancy between the known temperatures and the model temperatures.

Other Software

f77xref
a `cxref' like program for Fortran 77. Written in Perl. This program may eventually be available from this site.

A church's membership database written using Paradox.

A 3D display for N-body gravitational program written using C, Motif and OpenGL.

A program to run N-body gravitational simulations written in Fortran 77

Web Sites

Jessop Scientific Software (1999,2007)
This web site, originally written in simple HTML was converted to PHP in 2007.
Dance With Style (2008)
Designed and created the original 11 page site for a local dance teacher.
Calgary British Railway Modellers (2007)
Designed and created this 5 page site for a local model railway club.
University of Calgary Ballroom Dance Club (2008)
As a volunteer member of the web committee, designed and wrote most of the PHP and HTML code expanding a static 6 page HTML (with Javascript) site to the current PHP based 19 page site obtaining content from a MYSQL database.
Susanna Huen's Real Estate Pages (2006)
Created the original 6 page site using simple HTML (all that the web-host permits). The site has subsequently grown to more than 12 pages.
